The Calling Behind Restore Creation
Restore Creation began during a difficult season that caused our family to reevaluate what matters most—and with a calling neither of us realized the other had been receiving.
We had been living through a season that stripped away many assumptions about security, success, and the future. It led both of us to ask what kind of life we wanted to build for our daughters, what God had entrusted to us, and what work might remain fruitful even when familiar systems became uncertain.
Separately, each of us began sensing a call toward land—a place where our family could grow food, care for creation, welcome others, worship, work with our hands, and build something meant to outlast us.
“The earth is the LORD’S, and the fulness thereof.”Psalm 24:1
The defining part of the story is that this was not first developed together through ordinary brainstorming. Rob and Josie each received the essential direction individually. When they later shared what God had been placing on their hearts, they discovered the same calling had been taking shape at the same time.
That shared confirmation changed how we understood the idea. It was no longer merely a personal preference to move to the country or own a farm. We came to believe it was a family calling we were meant to prepare for together—with conviction, humility, and enough restraint to leave the timing and final form in God’s hands.

The vision is multigenerational because the horizon is larger than what can be accomplished or enjoyed in one season.
Our daughters are part of the reason we ask what kind of systems, habits, land, work, and community we want to pass forward. Restore Creation is meant to pursue fruit that can remain useful to future stewards rather than optimizing only for short-term gain.
